Valley of the Temples
This is archaeological site has a breathtaking landscape. It is on the
World Heritage list (UNESCO) as there is the greatest number of Doric
temples which are all along a natural rocky hill. The settlers who founded
Akragas, called Geloi because they came from Gela, chose to come to
Agrigento because it was a natural fortress.
The visit includes: The Temple of Zeus, The Temple
of Castor and Pollux, The Sanctuary dedicated to the Cthonian Divinities,
The Kolymbetra Garden, The Temple of Vulcan, The Temple of Hercules,
The Temple of Concord, The Temple of Concord, The Temple of Juno, The
Temple of Aesclapius, The Temple of Demeter and The Tomb of Theron.
Visit to the early Christian necropolis includes: Byzantine arcosolia
(tombs) as well as the Fragapane grottoes (underground tombs).
